- IUSA, is a tiny light that emanated…… from a tenuous candlelight and grew in intensity and scope; today it continues to shine brightly.
- Grupo IUSA, which has worked with an improvement spirit since its beginnings, was born due to the enterprise and vision of Alejo Peralta y Díaz Ceballos who, at the early age of 18, established the company “Peralta Hermanos”, dedicated to the manufacture and assembly of ironwork candle collars, which served to illuminate millions of Mexican homes.
- In 1939, Industrias Unidas, S.A. de C.V. (IUSA) was born, a company dedicated to the production and assembly of Bakelite light holders made with materials from abroad.
- In 1943, the company introduced in Mexico the manufacture of ceramic insulators, porcelain lampholders, knife switches, insulating bushings, circuit breakers, and surge arrestors.
- In 1946, IUSA already had a second plant in Mexico City to produce aluminum cable.
- Later, in 1955, it started the manufacture of electrical conductors, and in 1957 an extrusion press, named EUNUCO, started operating. It was originally designed for the manufacture of weaponry, but due to the creativity of engineer Alejo Peralta y Díaz Ceballos, was adapted to the manufacture of copper tubing.
- Pastejé was a cattle breeding located in the midst of the Mazahua community. In 1961, Don Alejo Peralta bought this hacienda to establish the infrastructure and build what would later become an industrial complex. Ing. Alejo Peralta considered there should be a de-centralizing process in different states of Mexico in order to disperse the industry and take it to the country and coasts to avoid displacing the population.
- This is what inspired him to establish Pastejé in 1961, today the Alejo Peralta y Díaz Ceballos Industrial City in the Municipality of Jocotitlán, in the state of Mexico; he also became a pioneer in the battle against pollution in Mexico City.
- In 1976, the Pastejé Center for Technical Training was founded, an academic center with cutting edge technology, available to the disadvantaged community of the Jocotitlán Municipality where year after year, the new generations conclude their academic studies and are then directly incorporated into the labor force of the company, or the industrial zone of the Region.
- In 1989, Grupo IUSA acquired 100 percent of the U.S. company Cambridge Lee Industries, considered the largest trader of copper tubing in the world, and in 1996 it acquired one of the main manufacturers of that same product in the U.S.: the Reading Tube.
- Started in the 1990’s the Quality Management Systems implementation under the family of ISO-9000 standards. Therefore, 90 percent of the companies in the group have the ISO-9001:2000 certification, highlighting it as one of the Mexican industrial groups with the largest number of certified companies under the requirements of this international standard.
- In 1998, the group successfully united with General Electric to manufacture electric meters and supply the Mexican and U.S. markets.
- In 2007, the Research and Development area of Grupo IUSA revolutionized the industry of electricity, water, and gas meters by simply making them electronic.
- In 2009, IUSA generated innovation in Mexico with the manufacture of the solar water heater, which maximizes natural resources and takes care of the environment with the guarantee of providing users with the same experience as with gas water heaters.
